ABOUT

I have been a medical social worker for over 5 years working with children who have chronic illnesses and their families. I completed my clinical hours at The Pavilion for Women- Women’s Place. I met with women at the reproductive age dealing with various issues including infertility, grief/bereavement, and post-partum anxiety or depression.

My areas of interest include working with young adults who have a chronic illness, parents of children who have a chronic illness, maternal mental health, and generalized anxiety and depression.

Approach

I work alongside individuals to help them understand the meaning behind their feelings, behaviors, and emotions. I hope by better understanding the root cause of symptoms related to interpersonal struggles, the client and I will be able to identify what motivates them to live meaningful lives, full of joy and hope. It can be overwhelming and anxiety provoking to show up to therapy, especially the first few sessions. My goal for the first few sessions is to promote a safe and trusting working environment. From then on, I aim to foster an open, collaborative space that allows the client and I to partner together as we determine the meaning behind the symptoms they are experiencing in their daily lives.

I utilize a variety of therapeutic modalities including, mindfulness- based therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy. Additionally, I believe it is important to identify and build from one’s strengths, which helps to emphasize their capacity for resilience, courage, and ingenuity.

“The good life is a process, not a state of being. It is a direction, not a destination.”
